Fly fishing

For those who enjoy fly fishing, this area offers a wide variety of waters and landscapes. From calm lakes to flowing rivers and smaller mountain streams, it’s a place where you can spend your days exploring different types of water, all within reach of your cabin.

The area around Idre is known for its diversity. Beyond the lakes, it’s very much about heading into the mountains — fishing in rivers and streams that run through forests and higher terrain. Waters such as the Sörälven, Storån, Österdalälven and smaller surrounding streams offer excellent opportunities throughout the season.

From May through September, you can fish for species such as brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, grayling and Arctic char. The surrounding lakes also hold pike, perch and other freshwater fish.

If you’re not familiar with the area, we’re happy to help you get started. We can provide information about fishing permits, advise on locations and, if needed, arrange permits in advance so you can head straight out when you arrive.

For those who would like some guidance, Mark offers relaxed fly fishing trips adapted to your experience and the season. Whether you are looking for a short introduction or a more extended stay on the water, there are different ways to shape your time — from a few hours to several days, with the option to include simple extras such as a lunch by the water.

Even outside of a guided trip, Mark is always happy to share local knowledge, point out interesting spots or walk you through maps of the area.

If you’re interested in fly fishing during your stay, feel free to get in touch. We’re happy to help you find the approach that suits you best and make the most of your time on the water.
